Violence Against Women

Sahiyar (Stree Sanghthan) provides counselling, moral and emotional support, legal aid and/or other practical help to women who have to faced violence, sexual harassment, injustice and discrimination from family, at workplace, and in the society. Sahiyar (Stree Sanghthan) support women in their struggle to overcome the violence they have been undergoing. We also organise awareness programmes on the various issues, so that people at large are aware of the fact and understand the reason behind violence against women, to bring long term changes in our patriarchal society.

We believe that women face violence in family, society and at the workplace not because of misfortune of these individual women but because of the patriarchal nature of these institutions. We support individual women in the crisis situation and also undertake awareness programmes to make people aware about the patriarchal nature of violence against women.
Supporting Women in Crises

We have been supporting women who face violence, sexual exploitation, injustice and/or discrimination as women in the family, at their work place or in society at large. We provide counselling, moral and emotional support, legal help and any other practical help they need in their struggle.

People believe that women face problems within marital family during the early years of marriage. But it is a myth. Many time women in their latter life, after having 30 -40 years of married life at the age of 60+ have also approached us to share their problems, to get divorce etc. Young girls facing problems/violence in the parents’ house also ask for support. Not only poor or economically dependent women but highly educated, working women, women doctor also face problem and get our support in their struggle against violence-injustice.
